Lyric Medley Tag: Photography & Thranduil

lyric medley tag
The incomparably amazing Heather @ Sometimes I'm A Story nominated me for the Lyric Medley Tag! I was both super flattered and super astonished I was tagged because I rarely touch on music for my blog posts. However, this is where my 8tracks account comes in useful. (P.S.: I'm at wanderingmemory there.)
  • Thank and link back to the person who tagged you.
  • Make a collage that represents your taste in music to go along with your tag post.
  • List a song for each of the 10 questions below (or make up your own!) and include your favorite lyrics from that song, if you'd like. If you want to explain why you chose that song, that's cool too - go crazy with it!
  • Tag at least 5 bloggers
I shall allow the collage to speak for itself:

I decided to take this opportunity to publish a Thranduil playlist that's been languishing since BotFA came out, and it has exactly ten songs. So I'm just covering each of these!
Long will I tarry 'ere I begin this war for gold.
once upon a time, we shone bright in the night sky of a faraway planet. and perhaps we have always yearned to go back to the stars.
for thranduil oropherion, elvenking of eryn lasgalen. crown of red leaves and sword of silver and eyes of steel and hair of mithril.
And here are the 10 songs, doubling as a tracklist. They don't all have lyrics, but they do all have extremely fitting quotes that just reverberate through my head as I listen to them.

i. The Hobbit Main Theme - Howard Shore
"You are more worthy to wear the armour of elf-princes than many that have looked more comely in it." - The Hobbit
ii. Once Upon A Dream - Lana Del Rey
how cold the starlight, how far the home. eryn galen. greenwood the great. northern mirkwood. eryn lasgalen.
iii. Interstellar (Main Theme) - Hans Zimmer
Do not go gentle into that good night. / Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
iv. The Bridge of Khazad-dûm - Howard Shore
when khazad-dûm flourished, erebor was still rising. when smaug came, the greenleaves blossomed. when mirkwood was tainted, durin's day came. when the lonely mountain was reclaimed, moria boasted only drums, drums in the deep.
v. Across the Stars - John Williams
they had laughed by the lake at Varykino, and there had been nothing between them but the night. — Revenge of the Sith, the Unauthorised Rewrite
vi. Skyfall - Adele
let the sky fall / when it crumbles / we will stand tall / face it all together
vii. Moonlight Sonata - Beethoven
Cirth ithil: "They can only be seen when the moon shines behind them."
viii. The Rains of Castamere - Karliene (lyrics from ASOIAF)
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, / and not a soul to hear.
ix. The Hobbit Teaser Trailer Music - Howard Shore
'On silver necklaces they strung / The light of stars, on crowns they hung / The dragon-fire, from twisted wire / The melody of harps they wrung.'
x. Time to Say Goodbye - Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli
i open at the close. - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
And I tag: Christina @ fairy skeletons, Nivedha @ unhappychair, Samantha @ her inklings, Queenie @ aquietpersonandaloudmind and Topaz @ Six Impossible Things! (I know you don't do tags, Topaz, but you said you weren't doing many music-related things and I really really love your playlists.) That said, do it only if you want to; important thing is to have fun!

Psst, if you guys wanna try the original questions, take a look at Heather's post.

What are some of your favourite lyrics/songs? What did you think of my choices? Comment below!

  1. Ooh, this is awesome! Like, very, very, very intriguing, and I love it even more because I understand those references! I'm going to have to say that "Skyfall," "Rains of Castomere," and "The Bridge of Khazad-dûm" are my favorites. Still, they're all good... But I should probably get around to READING The Hobbit, on account of I don't know Thranduil very well at all. EITHER WAY: Thanks for participating in the tag, thanks for the shout out at the end, and lovely pieces, all. :)

    1. Thanks so much! REFERENCES FTW. Skyfall is a personal intense favourite, even though I don't listen much to that genre. But any sort of film music/book music is so awesome I can't even. And you absolutely have to read The Hobbit--Thranduil's characterisation was pretty warped in movieverse, even though Lee Pace's acting is stellar. *whispers* Long will I tarry 'ere I begin this war for gold.

  2. LANA DEL RAY. ADELE. THE HOBBIT. BEETHOVEN.

Loving all your choices. They're all really good! Especially the diversity :) Great post!

    1. Thank you so much! I'm not much of a music person, so it means the world that people enjoy my playlist. Thanks for reading!

  3. I've already flailed over this, but may I just say (because yes, I stalk the comments sometimes. Sue me): WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE NOT A MUSIC PERSON?! This is a ridiculously gorgeous playlist and your music taste is impeccable. I have no earthly idea what you could be referring to.

Okay, so I'm kind of getting back into tags again because they're fun and I feel bad whenever people nominate me, plus this looks AMAZING, so I'm definitely going to give it a try. Expect my post sometime this week or the week after next. :D

(PS: I'm so glad you like my playlists. <3)

    1. It has literally been years since I touched a musical instrument with the intent of playing more than one note. But thank you SO MUCH. I'm trying to broaden my music tastes in 2015, and this playlist is one step towards that :)

I can't sue you. That would lead to you potentially suing me, because I stalk your comments too.

Yessss! Victory! Your music taste, Topaz, is truly incomparable. I mean, like ALL YOUR PLAYLISTS are gorgeous. Even if I thought I didn't like that genre, you somehow convince me otherwise.

I respond to all comments and would love to check out your blog if you leave a link :D Unless it's spam. Then I'll delete the comment and put you on the takeout blacklist, what a shame!
